GUA SHA

Gua Sha is a healing technique used extensively in Traditional East Asian Medicine. It has bee been referred to alternately as "coining, spooning or scraping" but all of these refer to the practie of using prescribed instruments in a series of press strokes on lubricated areas of the bodies surface. Gua Sha works by breaking up adhesions and scar tissue in muscles while eliminating what is considered "stagnation" in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Gua Sha is used to treat acute and chronic pain and decreased range of motion resulting from this scar tissue. It is also used to treat and prevent flu and the common cold, bronchitis and asthma while detoxifying the body as toxins and excess "heat" are brought to the surface to be released. We have had great success in treating a range of respiratory problems along with cold, flus and fevers.

Western medicine has recently adopted this treatment under a different name, calling it "dermal friction therapy", due to its effectiveness in treating muscular pain, early stage colds and flus, headaches and fevers.

Sessions are very affordable. We offer 30, 60 and 90 minutes sessions for $30, $60 and $90. Results can be obtained very quickly.

IS GUA SHA SAFE?

Gua Sha is completely safe, but it is important to receive treatment from a practitioner that has extensive training and practice in the technique and knows when and how to use it. It is an very effective and powerful technique that requires skill and experience.

It is important to moderate your activities after treatment, avoiding excess exercise and overeating or alcohol, while drinking plenty of water to flush toxins that may have been released during the procedure. Getting plenty of rest and relaxation afterwards is a very good idea!
